Please note that early morning training has now begun and will continue for the rest of the year (term time). Current training is focusing on cross country running. All interested students can meet in the SUA at 7.25am dressed ready to run.

Glasshouse District School Sport
Eleven and 12 year old students are able to trial for Glasshouse District School Sport teams. Students who are competant players in the chosen sport are encouraged to participate in the District trial. All trials are after school and it is parents responsibility to get students to and from trials and games. Selection in these teams gives opportunity to play with other talented students from a variety of local schools in the Sunshine Coast Trial Day where a Sunshine Coast team will be selected to compete in the State Championships.

Facilities:

We have a good size oval which can accommodate a 300m Athletics track (full size is 400m). The oval has a beach volleyball pit, a synthetic cricket pitch, two cricket nets, a marked netball court, two team volleyball courts, a reduced soccer pitch and touch football pitch.

There is also an undercover area which caters for Futsal, full-court basketball and badminton. The College has access to Beerwah Sports Ground (being an affiliate member and just across the road) and the Beerwah Swimming Pool (also just across the road) which is in the process of being upgraded to a 50m facility.

Sport’s Program:

GCCC has three major Sports Carnivals per year, these being; Swimming (Term 1), Cross Country (Term 1/2) and Athletics (Term 2).  These Carnivals cater for students from the 9yr old to Open-Age groups and are run as separate Primary and Secondary Events.

Students who finish in the top 2-4 places, in the above carnivals, are then given the opportunity to represent the College at the District, Regional and State levels.

To develop skill and fitness in these major Sports Carnival areas, GCCC provides before school training two days a week for those students who wish to receive extra tuition in Swimming, Running or Athletics. These training sessions are conducted at the College Oval, the local Beerwah Swimming Pool and the Beerwah Sports Ovals.

Year 6 and 7 students participate in a ‘Friday Afternoon’ sports program which involves interschool competitions with a variety of other Primary Schools in the District across a number of sports including, Softball, Touch Football, AFL and Soccer. This competition occurs in the last weeks of each term (except Term 2).
